Measure W (2002)
Measure W represented an up or down vote for the
residents of Orange County, California on the reuse of the former El Toro
Marine Corps Air Station. A "yes" vote on Measure W would
amend the Orange County central plan to allow only open space and
education compatible uses on the former Marine base. A
"no" vote would have maintained the airport designation for the
base.
Measure W television commercials were designed to
highlight the flaws in the County airport plan and present the Great Park
as a superior alternative for Orange County residents.
Measure W received 58% of the vote.
